This programme is designed to develop your skills in your chosen career at our state of the art new build catering department and purpose built restaurant kitchen in the town centre at our new T1 campus with excellent transport links. The course includes 16 different units within the catering and hospitality industry and comprises of basic cookery sessions both practical and theoretical knowledge. Visits to local hospitality providers including hotels, suppliers and restaurants, within the Manchester area. Students will be given a opportunity to work in some noted establishments as part of their course and learning experience. several national and international competitions are entered each year by students with a great proven record of success. You will gain valuable practical experience working in the restaurant at Tameside ONE which belongs to the college and open to the public. You will also be developing your knowledge and skills within the kitchens using a variety of ingredient, styles, cuisines and methods of cookery, as well as building those key employability and industry skills and qualification portfolio. This course has been designed to give both practical hands on skills and an understanding of the catering industry with food safety and health and safety for the catering industry also included. The course is for enthusiasts people and individuals looking to take the next steps towards a career in the catering industry.

What you need to get on

Learners must have: ? To qualify for onto this course you have to be 16-19, be available for a full weekly timetable and be prepared to work at professional standards. You will also be invited to an interview to assess your interest, aptitude and suitability to the course. ? Good communication skills. ? A hardworking approach towards the industry ? Catering whites will be required to be purchased, to a specific standard and style (guidance given)
