What the college says

p This course will help you progress to advanced chef training or start your cookery career. You will explore food and product development and learn the technical skills required for professional preparation of vegetables meat poultry game and fish. /p p To gain experience of a real working environment you will work in our training restaurant and complete a work placement. /p p This course will also develop your customer and food service skills including bar service silver service and table theatre in our on site restaurant. /p ul li Train in professional industry standard kitchens /li li Tutors with industry experience Visits to hotels and restaurants /li li Serving experience in our public restaurant /li /ul

What you need to get on

p Start at Level 2 if you have at least three GCSEs at grade 3 (D/E) or above including English and maths. If you don't have these grades we have options for you. /p p You could start on a Level 1 course and progress to this Level 2 course on successful completion. /p

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
