What the college says

Students will study UK Politics which involves investigating democracy and participation, political parties, electoral systems, voting behaviour and the role of the media. As part of this unit, students will consider core political ideas of conservatism, liberalism and socialism. Alongside this, students will explore how the UK Government works and examine some non-core political ideas, such as feminism, multiculturalism or nationalism. In Year 13, students will study global politics, looking at key issues such as human rights, the environment and the European Union. Lessons will explore current political issues, allowing time for lots of debate and discussion.

What you need to get on

Standard entry requirements: Maths and English Language at a grade 4. Based on Attainment 8 scores we will offer the following pathways: Vocational Pathway (selecting only Vocational Courses): 40, Combination Pathway (selecting a mixture of A Level and Vocational): 45, A Level Pathway (selecting only A Levels): 50. Subject specific requirements: A grade 5 in a Humanities subject plus a grade 5 in English language or Literature at GCSE.
