The A level course consists of both UK and Global politics. Learning is focused on key areas such as the governing of the UK, the nature of the political system and how political ideas of conservatism, liberalism, and socialism influence current political parties. In addition there is an opportunity to study alternative political ideas and their relevance in the modern world. The Comparative Politics paper will focus on global politics and international relations from the late twentieth century to the current day, looking at significant developments since the end of the cold war. The nature of power and world order, the development of international systems of law and global governance are all principle themes. Paper 1 UK Politics Paper 2 UK Government Paper 3 Global Politics

What you need to get on

At least 8 9-5 grades at GCSE, including English Language and Mathematics. Grade 6 in GCSE History; if not studied, Grade 6 in GCSE English Language or Literature.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
