What the college says

Politics refers to the systems of government in a given area and debates surrounding the distribution and use of power. You should study Politics because it is, in effect, the study of history as it is being made! Politics affects just about every aspect of our lives, so understanding what politicians are doing, and why they are doing it, helps us to understand the realities of life in the modern world. The last fifteen years have also been packed full of monumental political events in the UK and elsewhere. This has meant there are a vast array of events covered constantly in the news that are relevant to our course and that form the basis of interesting and valuable discussions in lesson. Politics lessons include a mixture of reading, note taking, discussion activities and debate. It is also the ideal subject if essay writing is one of your strengths, given the nature of assessments. You will leave the course with strong written communication and persuasive writing skills.
