What the college says
Students study the workings of government and political culture in the United Kingdom and the United States. Political ideas such as liberalism, conservatism, socialism and nationalism are analysed, along with current events, issues, controversies and scandals in conjunction with political theory and historical developments. Every day, Downing Street and the White House, Parliament and Congress, Fleet Street and Wall Street will raise important issues for debate. You will learn about political participation and government structures in the UK and the USA and the world, both in and beyond elections. You will also study the development of political ideas such as conservation, liberalism, socialism, feminism and anarchism.
What you need to get on
Grade 5 or above in GCSE English Language.
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.

The A-level-equivalent step, and what universities and employers ask for.
