As part of the course you will study: 1) UK Politics: political participation (including democracy and participation, political parties, electoral systems, voting behaviour and the media); core political ideas (including conservatism, liberalism and socialism). 2) UK Government: including the constitution, parliament, Prime Minister and executive and relationships between the branches. 3) Comparative Politics: The USA covering the US constitution, federalism, the US Congress, President, Supreme Court and civil rights, democracy, participation and comparative theories.

What you need to get on

All students entering the Sixth Form to undertake a 3 A Level programme must have secured 5 GCSE grades at 4 or above, including Maths and English. There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, just an interest in political systems and arguments.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
