What the college says

This course is for students who want to continue studying chemistry after GCSE. You'll already be familiar with some of the topics, but the A level will give you the chance to study these and some new ones, in much greater depth. You might be choosing chemistry because you're headed for a scientific career, though it will give you a set of skills that can be used in a wide range of non-scientific careers too.

What you need to get on

6 grade 5s (or equivalent), including at least grade 5 in English Language or Literature. 6 or above in at least 2 Sciences, and if you're doing Triple Science one of the 6's has to be in Chemistry. Plus a 6 or above in Maths.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
