What the college says

This course is designed to provide students with a balanced coherent study of Chemistry in which chemical principles are developed. Students will be able to devise and plan experimental and investigative work, and interpret, explain, evaluate and communicate the results of these. Students will also gain an awareness of the ethical, environmental, technological and economic aspects of the subject. Building on Year 12 work, students learn about: Physical Chemistry, for example, thermodynamics and rate equations; Inorganic Chemistry, such as Period 3 and reactions of ions; and finally, Organic Chemistry, covering isomerism, biochemistry and aromatic chemistry.

What you need to get on

Waddesdon Points System to enter the Sixth Form explained in the prospectus. Minimum of 65 in GCSE Science, 6 on the GCSE Chemistry paper and 5 in GCSE Maths.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
