This course is for students who want to continue studying chemistry after GCSE. You'll already be familiar with some of the topics, but the A level will give you the chance to study these and some new ones, in much greater depth. You might be choosing chemistry because you're headed for a scientific career, though it will give you a set of skills that can be used in a wide range of non-scientific careers too. A Level Chemistry is a great opportunity to explore a fascinating science. You will have the opportunity to experiment and understand interactions between chemicals, how to control reactions and important concepts such as the structure of the atom. You will investigate the fascinating properties and theories of solids liquids and gases. Chemistry is an exciting scientific discipline that opens doors to countless career paths and future studies. Whether you are dreaming of careers including Chemical Engineering, Environmental Chemistry, or forensic science the possibilities are endless. Chemistry A level leads to the development of a wide range of skills such as experiment design, problem solving, analytic reasoning and data analysis. All of which make students of Chemistry highly employable.
What you need to get on
The required point score to join our A Level programme is 4.25 across all your GCSEs. This must include a minimum of 5 grade 5s or above including a grade 5 or above in English Language and Maths, with a grade 6 in Chemistry or minimum of 6 and 5 in double science. An average point score will be calculated across your GCSE grades. A BTEC qualification at Merit grade, or above, in a related subject may also be considered in exceptional circumstances.
