What will I study? OCR Biology A develops knowledge and Understanding of the different areas of Biology. It develops an appreciation of the skills, knowledge and understanding of scientific methods and competence in a variety of practical, mathematical and problem solving skills. It helps students understand how society makes decisions about scientific issues and how the sciences contribute to the success of the economy and society. It develops students' interest in further study and careers associated with the subject. The teaching of practical skills is integrated with the theoretical topics and they are assessed through written papers and the Practical Endorsement. The course is made up of six modules:- Module 1 Development of practical skills in Biology Module 2 Foundations in Biology Module 3 Exchange and transport Module 4 Biodiversity, evolution and disease Module 5 Communications, homeostasis and energy Module 6 Genetics, evolution and ecosystems Assessment The three assessment objectives are: A01 Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of scientific ideas, processes, techniques and procedures.
