This course is for students who want to continue studying chemistry after GCSE. You'll already be familiar with some of the topics, but the A level will give you the chance to study these and some new ones, in much greater depth. You might be choosing chemistry because you're headed for a scientific career, though it will give you a set of skills that can be used in a wide range of non-scientific careers too.
What you need to get on
You will need to meet the SST sixth form entry requirements (achieve 38 points across your best 8 subjects, including a grade 4 or better in Maths and English Literature or Language). In addition, you will need a 6/above in Chemistry (or 6-7 in Combined Science) and a 6/above in Maths
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.

The A-level-equivalent step, and what universities and employers ask for.
