This course is for anyone who is interested in science or particularly chemistry. Generally, students will take other sciences or mathematics as well. There are three main areas; physical chemistry (structures, rates of reaction, energy); organic chemistry (carbon based); inorganic chemistry (non-carbon based). There are many careers and university courses available to chemists. medical, engineering, agricultural, food science and research careers are all popular choices. What you need to get on

A minimum of five GCSE’s at level 6 including a 6 in dual award science or a 6 in GCSE chemistry. Students will also need to have an average of 5.5 points from their GCSEs.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
