If you benefit from getting a high level of teacher support then Chemistry at HWS should be your first choice. We have relatively small classes (around 11), enabling us to provide personalised learning and frequent feedback, all factors which increase outcomes in A Level exams. The Chemistry team are highly qualified in our subject area and have significant experience in teaching the A Level course. At HWS we believe that practical chemistry is vitally important and it is a regular part of our lessons; to aid this, we have modern and well-equipped laboratories.

What you need to get on

Entry to Hinchley Wood Sixth Form is dependent on achieving 7 GCSE passes, comprising level 9 - 4 grades. A minimum of grade 4 is required in English; as well as a grade 6 in GCSE Chemistry and a 6 in one other science GCSE. , or; Grade 6-6 in Combined Science. The mathematical demand for A Level Chemistry is challenging. A grade 6 in GCSE Mathematics is required. If a Grade 5 is achieved in Mathematics, students will be placed on a Suitability Contract
