Develop concepts familiar from GCSE such as the Periodic Table, atomic structure, rates of reaction and the Mole, but with a greater emphasis on the fundamental principles. Teaching is via a variety of engaging methods such as IT-led activities, problem solving, discussion and practicals. Practicals are an assessed part f the course and there is ample practice available.

What you need to get on

Grade 4 at Double Award Higher Tier or Triple Chemistry Higher Tier although students below a Grade 5 may struggle. Grade 5 in Maths is also needed.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
