Students will cover a range of topics including quantitative chemistry, organic chemistry and inorganic chemistry. The majority of the modules are assessed via an examination, however there are some coursework assignments involved. You will often spend time conducting experiments and research in a laboratory environment, so you must be prepared to work with a range of scientific equipment. Students of A-level chemistry generally leave the course with the ability to recognise, recall and show understanding of specific chemical facts, terminology, principals, concepts and practical ability. The A-level chemistry course will show students how to use information with the view of interpreting phenomena and effects of chemical principles, as well as presenting arguments and ideas in a logical, clear manner.

What you need to get on

Level 4 in English, level 6 in Maths, and a minimum of 2 Science GCSEs at grade A, including an A in Chemistry

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
