What the college says
This course has been developed in consultation with employers in the sport and active leisure industry. You will gain the knowledge and training for progression into Sports Coaching and Development and eventual employment as a Sports Coach for children and leading community activities. You will learn the skills, knowledge and behaviours demanded by employers in the sports and active leisure industry. You will learn about the ways in which people participate in sport and physical activity, jobs in the leisure industry, personal skills and professional behaviours, behaviour change, planning and leading community sports activity sessions and sports industry legislation and guidance.
What you need to get on
3 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, or a relevant Level 1 qualification.
How you are assessed
Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
