What the college says

This is a one year BTEC course designed for students who are within or are considering a career in the sports/play or youth industries. It gives the opportunity to progress coaching skills in a range of sports, leading to level 1 or 2 coaching awards in various sports and Sports Leaders UK sports leadership awards as well as the BTEC qualification. The course is at Talacre Sports Centre with Camden Sports & Physical Activity Team. You will also be allocated a voluntary placement in either an educational or community setting where you will gain valuable experience in a ‘real setting’. If applicable you will also be given the opportunity to re-sit your GCSE Maths and English or complete your functional skills at William Ellis School for two sessions per week.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
