It is much sought after in the vast majority of industries. From catering to medicine, dentistry, veterinary, chemical engineer to chemist. there is literally no career you cannot go on to if you study Chemistry.
What you need to get on
Typical grades needed 5 x GCSE at grade 4 or above. with a minimum grade 6 in Combined science or 5 in Chemistry.

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
