Have you ever considered what it takes to become a sports performer at the highest level? Beyond just the physical performance, a range of factors can contribute to the success or failure of an individual in sporting competition. The A Level Physical Education course provides you with a unique opportunity to investigate such factors through the study into the physiology, psychology and sociology of sports performance. The A Level course comprises of a mixture of both theory and practical lessons which complement each other in providing you with a range of varied learning tasks and experiences. The structure of the course allows you to gain a deeper understanding of how the human body responds and develops as a result of exercise, whilst further examining the importance of psychology and skill acquisition in determining successful sporting performance.

What you need to get on

6 in PE and 6+5 in Science (this must include Chemistry and Biology). Students must show evidence of involvement in sport outside school To gain entry to the Sixth Form students must have a minimum point score of 5.5 or above for your best 8 GCSE subjects.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
