Having an understanding of sociological ideas is essential to the educated person in the modern world. Sociology is the study of society and covers topics such as ‘Power and Politics’, ‘Social Stratification’, ‘Crime and Deviance’, ‘Family’, ‘Education’, and ‘Religion’. These are all constantly debated in the media and in everyday life.

What you need to get on

A minimum of Grade 4 in GCSE English Language. If studied Sociology previously, a minimum Grade 4 will be required. There are no requirements to have studied GCSE Sociology to study Sociology at A-Level.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
