What the college says

Sociology can enable you to understand and explain the world you live in and your situation within it. It is the study of how society is organised and the analysis of theories that seek to explain the ?why?? of how societies work, including the roles of institutions such as education, the law, the family, and the mass media. Probably the most important thing about sociology is that it enables us to make sense of the rapidly changing world that we live in and to examine issues from fresh and varied perspectives. Sociology enables us to understand ourselves including the way we think, behave, and feel: our very sense of identity is socially produced.
