What the college says

For the two-year A Level course, you will study the following: Families and Households - explanation of family patterns; Education - the role of the education system and why some groups achieve more than others; Sociological Methods - methods used by sociologists to collect and analyse data; Crime and Deviance - different explanations of the patterns and reasons for crime in society; Media ownership, control and change; Theory and Methods - underlying theoretical issues and debates, and related methods of research. Students will sit three 2 hour papers at the end of Year 13.

What you need to get on

CAPS 5 plus a grade 5 in GCSE English Language or English Literature OR a grade 4 in GCSE English Language or GCSE English Literature with a grade 6 in a GCSE Humanity.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
