What the college says
If you have an interest in society, the family, education, criminology, criminal behaviour and the role of religion in society, this may be the course for you. You will study many aspect of contemporary society including socialisation, culture and identity. You will study the education system including policy and patterns of achievement. You will then go on to look at the role of the family in modern British society. If continued to A level you will learn about the role of religion in western society looking specifically at fundamentalism. Finally, you will learn about crime, deviance and reasons why someone turns to crime.
What you need to get on
A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including a grade 6 in GCSE English.
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.

The A-level-equivalent step, and what universities and employers ask for.
