A-level Sociology offers students the opportunity to develop the essential knowledge and understanding of society and sociological thoughts and methods. The course encourages students to demonstrate the application of a range of skills and consider the integration of sociological themes: socialisation, culture and identity, social differentiation, power and stratification. Sociology will give you an insight into social and cultural issues, by drawing on a range of perspectives and evidence. It will allow you to discuss social issues concerning equality in topics including education, families and households, as well as crime and deviance and the mass media. It leads to many careers, such as social work, probation officer, counselling, nursing and the police."
