A Level Sociology may appeal to those who are curious about the way society works and are able to look behind the obvious, taken for granted explanations. Students study a number of topic areas which will encourage them to take an independent and questioning stance on a variety of social issues and problems.
What you need to get on
An interest in social issues and social problems is important, as well as analytical ability and an enjoyment of reading and research. In addition, students will need to be able to communicate effectively on paper, therefore will need a GCSE in English at Grade 4 or above.
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
