What the college says

Sociology is an academic discipline aimed at those students who wish to understand more about themselves, the people they know, the society they live in, and other cultures and societies. Studying society will make students socially, culturally and politically aware, and capable of thinking critically about the world around them. Students always enjoy the subject. It is hard work, but it is very stimulating and relevant to their own lives. We follow the AQA specification. Sociology is a very popular subject at TRS and benefits from energetic and enthusiastic teachers with proven excellence in teaching to A Level standard. Students are encouraged to carry out their own sociological research and will benefit from extra-curricular activities such as outside speakers and curriculum visits.
