Why study Sociology? Sociology is about the study of societies, how they work and how they change. You will learn how societies shape people's ideas and behaviour and how in turn, people interact and shape their societies. You will also have the chance to consider your own experience of the world around you and develop the knowledge and skills needed to play a part within the community. Topics covered at AS: Unit 1 Education and Methods in Context, Key questions include - Do schools create social mobility? Unit 2 Research Methods and Families and Households Key questions include - Is family breakdown now the norm?

What you need to get on

5 GCSEs at grade 4 and above. Each course carries its own individual requirments.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.

The A-level-equivalent step, and what universities and employers ask for.
