What the college says

This pathway is designed for young people with learning and communication difficulties who want to be more independent in their lives, but lack the practical, living and work skills needed to progress. This pathway is perfect for those looking to further their independence, prepare for daily life activities and develop their employability skills.

What you need to get on

Students need to be aged 16 - 25 and have an Education, Health and Care plan (EHCP). Our Skills for Life & Work pathway is suitable for students who have future aspirations to live more independently, attend day services or gain voluntary or paid work. Students on this pathway should be working at Entry Level 1 or above academically, and can be supported 1:3 unless there is a specific need identified in their EHCP.

How you are assessed

Entry level and Level 1 study, English and maths retakes, and supported programmes.

What this level means

A first step that builds towards Level 2.

Is it open to 16 to 18 year olds?

Not on the Section 96 list, but a school or college runs it full time, so check the age range with them.
