What the college says
The aim of this course is to help learners develop practical art and design skills alongside important personal, social and work-related skills. Learners will build creative problem-solving skills, communication skills, teamwork and the ability to plan and develop ideas from concept to completion. The programme also supports the development of confidence, independence and self-management, while improving understanding of health and safety and the ability to explain and reflect on creative work. Maths and English are embedded throughout the programme and, where appropriate, learners may also work towards Functional Skills qualifications to support their wider progression.
What you need to get on
To join this course, learners must be aged 16 to 24 and have an Education, Health and Care Plan. An interest in art and design is important, but no formal qualifications are required. All potential learners will be invited to attend a taster day to help ensure the course is suitable for their needs, interests and learning goals. The Supported Learning department also requires a consultation with the learners local authority before an application can be progressed.
How you are assessed
