You will develop your knowledge and understanding in a range of areas through a context lead approach; applying the course content to real-life situation to aid understanding. The course includes 16 core practical which will enable you to develop your experimental skills in line with university requirements. You will also have the opportunity to complete a radio astronomy project endorsed by a local observatory as well as the University of Nottingham. Students studying physics A Level will also have the opportunity to travel to Geneva in Switzerland to visit CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research. Topics include: mechanics, magnetic and electric fields, materials, nuclear and particle physics, gravitational fields, space physics, oscillations.

5 GCSE grades 9-5, including English and Mathematics, and Grade 6 in Physics or Combined Science and Maths

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
