The course builds upon the student experience from GCSE to enhance knowledge and increase understanding of the factors that affect performance and participation in PE. The qualification looks to equip students with skills and knowledge required for higher education or the world of work. Students will have the opportunity to experience and develop an interest in a variety of roles in sport such as performer, official and/or leader/coach. The content of the course will address current contemporary issues. Topics will include the impact of the use of ergogenic aids, technology and increasing commercialisation of sport.

What you need to get on

At least grade 6 in GCSE PE and grade 4 in English Language. For continuation to Year 13 grades in Year 12 Physical Education need to demonstrate potential for A level success.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
