What the college says
A Level Physical Education will build on your experience at GCSE to enhance your knowledge and increase understanding of the factors that affect performance and participation in physical education. The qualification aims to equip you with the skills and knowledge required for Higher Education or the world of work. The content of this course addresses topics such as: anatomy and physiology, sports psychology and the use of technology in sport to enhance performance. The first year is divided into two distinct modules: factors affecting participation in physical activity and sport and practical performance in physical activity and sport. The second year is divided into three distinct modules: factors affecting participation in physical activity and sport, factors affecting optimal performance in physical activity and sport and practical performance in physical activity and sport. You will develop the skills, knowledge and understanding to prepare you for sports-related courses in higher education. Alternatively, you may wish to progress into employment within the sports industry. Alongside your studies you'll get lots of opportunities to get involved in extra-curricular activities, known as Enrichment. This does just what it promises; it enriches your time at College, helps you develop new skills and can really boost your UCAS application and CV. Enrichment usually runs every Wednesday afternoon and is built into your timetable.
