What the college says

What will I study? In this A Level course students develop an interest in, enthusiasm for, and enjoyment of Photography. The programme of study will stimulate students’: • intellectual • imaginative • creative and intuitive capabilities • intuitive capabilities through: • investigative • analytical • experimental • practical and technical expressive skills • aesthetic understanding and critical judgement. Students are encouraged to develop independence of mind so that they can refine and communicate their own ideas and intentions to create their own personal outcomes. In Photography the focus is initially on developing students’ understanding on how a camera works, both traditional and digital. This is followed by darkroom practical development work. There is also comprehensive teaching of Photoshop. This understanding then enables students to produce and create a range of creative digital outcomes. With a real focus on critical understanding, students produce sketchbook journals as well as finished outcomes.
