Unit 1 (Coursework Unit) - Worth 60% of final grade. Students will be introduced to the basics of photography through a series of extensive workshops. Students will be responding to the work of current photographers, as well as understanding the history of photography and it’s impact on the world of Art & Design. Students will begin to understand the formal elements of Photography, and will carry out research that looks creatively at the ways Photographers have used theme elements within their work. Students will partake in workshops that will focus on digital photography, photograms, digital and physical photo manipulation. Students will be responding to a series of project themes within this time, to help them refine and hone their skills. Unit 2 (Coursework Unit) - Worth 40% of final grade. Students will receive an exam paper with a choice of different starting points. Students are to select a starting point and create a mini project responding to their choice of theme. The students will create a body of preparatory work towards a final piece.
