What the college says

This course is for students who want to continue studying Photography. You'll hopefully already be familiar with some of the skills and techniques, but the A level will give you the chance to study in more depth and develop your own particular artistic strengths and interests. It will suit you if you are creative and enjoy combining theory with lots of practical work. Even if you aren't aiming for a career in art and design, this course will give you a set of transferable skills including creativity, communication and the ability to work independently which can be useful in a range of careers. We follow the AQA specification in Photography.

What you need to get on

Our entry requirement is a minimum of five standard passes at GCSE (9-4) in five different subjects (only one BTEC will be considered), with at least one being GCSE English or GCSE Maths. A minimum of grade 4 in related GCSE subject (Art, Textiles or Graphics). Completion of a ‘pre-course task’ to check you are a suitable candidate if you do not have a creative background.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
