Economics is the study of how societies, governments, businesses, households and individuals allocate their scarce resources for production, distribution and consumption. Economists learn to apply models of behaviour to predict responses to changes in government policy and external shocks. Studying Economics gives students a better understanding of how the world around them operates and combines particularly well with Mathematics, Politics, Geography, History and Business.

What you need to get on

The minimum entry requirements for students are the best 8 GCSE grades, totalling 38 or higher. For example, two Grade 6s, two Grade 5s, and four Grade 4s. In addition, students also need to have secured a Grade 6 in GCSE Mathematics and a Grade 6 in GCSE English.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
