Applied maths mechanical units: modelling in mechanics, constant acceleration, forces and motion variable acceleration, moments, forces and friction, projectiles, application of forces, further kinematics. Applied maths statistical units: Data location, measures of location and spread, representations of data, correlation, probability, mutually exclusive and independent events, statistical distributions, hypothesis testing, regression, correlation, conditional probability, the normal distribution. Progression routes: maths provides a pathway to a variety of areas including economics, medicine, psychology, architecture, teaching, engineering, environmental studies and accountancy.
