The Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning has been designed to provide learners with an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children and young people in school or college environments. It covers a wide range of areas including children and young people's development, supporting children and young people's positive behaviour and communication and professional relationships. It is aimed at learners working in roles that support pupils' learning in primary, secondary or special schools, as well as colleges. There are 11 mandatory units in this qualification. What is NCFE? What you need to get on

You should be at least 18 years of age and working or volunteering for at least 6 hours per week for the duration of the course in a learning environment (school or college), as you will need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
