If you find supporting children and young people learn in the classroom enjoyable and rewarding, this is the course for you. You’ll learn all about how children develop their understanding, professional best practice and how to promote learning. You’ll be volunteering for at least 12 hours per week in a teaching and learning environment, so there will be plenty of opportunities for you to put everything you’re learning into practice.
What you need to get on
You must be aged19 or over and have Functional Skills Maths and English at Level 1 or higher or GCSE grade 3 or higher. You must also have successfully completion of the 6-week introduction course which starts in September.
How you are assessed
Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
