A-Level Maths builds on and extends GCSE knowledge and skills and introduces new ideas, such as calculus and its applications. Most of the course involves using algebra and it covers topics such as trigonometry, co-ordinate geometry, differentiation and integration (calculus), and algebraic techniques and functions. A-Level and AS Level Maths prepare students for further study and employment in a wide range of disciplines involving the use of maths such as sciences, social sciences, engineering and business.

Five GCSEs at grade 5 or above including English Language. Grade 7 or above in GCSE Maths.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
