It is almost impossible to get through a day without using Maths in some way. Our world is full of numbers to handle and problems to solve. Studying maths provides students with the tools to make sense of it all. Maths is an incredibly versatile subject and fits well with virtually any combination of A Levels. The subject provides good preparation for many university courses including Medicine, Geography, Business Studies, Psychology, Architecture and Engineering.We use technology in a variety of ways to enhance learning and have a dedicated set of laptops for Year 12 and Year 13 Mathematicians. Students are encouraged to become familiar with graphic and geometry software as well as spreadsheets. All students are required to have an appropriate calculator and many choose to have a more powerful graphical version.

What you need to get on

GCSE Grade 6 or above in Maths. To aid transition the Maths department run a ?Bridge? unit which is assessed within the first week of Year 12. This will help students decide if they have chosen an appropriate course. Students are required to pass the ?Bridge? assessment to continue on the course.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
