GCE A Mathematics is a linear two-year course. GCE AS Mathematics constitutes the first year of the A-Level Mathematics course (Year 1). It is examined internally through 2 exam papers. There is no coursework to be completed. The examining board is Edexcel. In Year 12 students complete two units: Pure (67% of the overall grade) and one application unit covering Statistics and Mechanics (33% of the overall grade). In Year 13, students complete GCE A Level Mathematics which assesses knowledge taught in both Year 12 (Year 1) and 13 (Year 2) and is assessed by 3 exam papers: Paper 1 & 2 - Pure Mathematics (67% of the overall grade) and Paper 3 - one application unit covering Statistics and Mechanics (33% of the overall grade).
