Economics is the study of scarcity and concerns the allocation of society’s scarce resources amongst their many competing uses. It looks at the way the world works. You will study the forces that shape our lives, such as the behavioural factors that influence our decisionmaking, growing inequalities and employment prospects, the opportunities and challenges facing a postBrexit UK, the importance of aid and international trade for economic development, and the impact of environmental factors.

What you need to get on

Five passes in GCSE at grade 4 or above. One of the five passes will include English at grade 4 or higher and 5 or above in Maths

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
