You will explore ideas and materials, develop your critical faculties in both practical and written work and acquire a high level of design and making skills.If you?re highly creative, A Level Art could be a perfect choice for you and a subject you may go on to pursue at university. Certainly, career options for graduates are as diverse as your imagination.What we?ll studyThis is the most open-ended of the Art & Design courses and enables the most diverse opportunities for exploration of materials, media and ideas.All projects begin with drawing, in the widest sense, and could develop into the areas of painting, photography, three dimensional work, mixed media, fashion design, textile and computer-based artwork.You will study the work of other artists, designers and photographers, including work from primary sources during visits to galleries and museums.Our Art & Design DepartmentYou?ll be part of a department that achieves some of the best results in the country. In September 2013 the college opened a new, extended and enhanced Art & Design department, providing state-of-the-art facilities. It comprises five large teaching rooms, an extensive darkroom, gallery, screen printing, 3D and studio photography facilities, all underpinned by the latest Apple technology. As a result students beginning study in Art & Design at Holy Cross have a very much enhanced experience

What you need to get on

General College entry requirements.Grade 4 or above in art, graphics or a related area, such as design technology.Grade 4 or higher in GCSE English is recommended. If you have studied BTEC Art and Design/Art and Design Extended Certificate/Art and Design Diploma you will need a Pass at Level 2.Students without GCSE in Art or a related subject will need to present a folder of work for negotiation, which must include at least one drawing made from direct observation.
