This Textiles course gives you the opportunity to develop a personal and structured approach to project work by exploring ideas and materials, developing your critical faculties in both practical and written work and acquiring a high level of design and making skills.What we?ll studyThis is a specialised course, which works in the area of constructed textiles, dyed and stitched fabric and fashion, using a variety of experimental methods and materials.All projects begin with drawing, before moving into textile media. Work is focused on art based and creative processes rather than the traditional way of making functional garments. You will study the work of other artists, designers and photographers, including work from primary sources during visits to galleries and museums.Studying Textiles with us, you?ll be joining a thriving Art & Design Department, one of the largest A Level art departments in Britain. We have with around 450 students currently studying A levels in Art, Graphics and Photography as well as Textiles.In recent years our students have attained some of the very highest results in the country.The core values of the department are the primacy of ideas, hard work and a deep passion for all aspects of Art & Design. General College entry requirements. GCSE English at grade 4 or above is recommended.
