The City and Guilds Level 2 course is an ideal starting point if you are new to Animal Care or have a basic knowledge of keeping animals and want to expand your skills. Whilst studying at Brinsbury you will get the opportunity to work on our fantastic Animal Centre which is home to an array of different animals ranging from reptiles livestock birds amphibians mammals and invertebrates. This course will allow you to gain employment in various animal based industries or progress onto further study. Studying at our Brinsbury campus offers you the opportunity to learn in a stunning rural environment.

What you need to get on

Each applicant should have obtained 1 GCSE in either Maths or English Language at grade 4 or above. Where both Maths and English have not been obtained at grade 4 we may discuss other suitable courses we provide here at Brinsbury. This course has a compulsory requirement to complete an external work based placement which means students must be willing to apply themselves fully to the course and dedicated to animal care.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
