Are you practically minded? Are you able to solve engineering problems? Are you interested in technology? Have you wanted to travel? If the answer is yes, then a career in the marine industry could be ideal for you.On our full-time Level 2 Marine Technologies course you will cover boat terminology, marine engineering, marine electrical topics and boatbuilding.This knowledge will enable you to specialise in one or more marine careers, from marina operative to luxury superyacht builder/fitter. Alternatively, this programme could be your stepping-stone to the Royal Navy/Merchant Navy.Importantly, you will have the opportunity to take part in employability training and work experience, and have the option of gaining a RYA VHF course and First Aid qualification.
What you need to get on
Four GCSEs at grade 3 and above to include:* English Language* Maths* Science Applicants should also demonstrate a positive attitude to learning and developing within the marine industry.
How you are assessed
Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
Is it open to 16 to 18 year olds?
Approved for 16 to 18 study on the government's Section 96 list.
