This full-time course provides learners with the theoretical understanding and practical skills needed to work as an architectural joiner. Learners will gain expertise in the design, manufacture, and installation of timber components used in buildings such as doors, windows, staircases, and frames. Units covered include: - Health and safety in a construction environment - Principles of welfare, health and safety in construction environments - Principles of working in the construction industry - Timber technology - Planning and preparation for setting out and marking out architectural joinery - Use of woodworking machinery - Architectural joinery component production - Assembly and finishing of architectural joinery products Training combines classroom theory, simulated workshop activities, and hands-on joinery tasks aligned to occupational standards.
What you need to get on
- 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above - Level 1 Carpentry & Joinery qualification - A clear interest in wood occupations and manufacturing environments. - You will attend an interview to assess your enthusiasm and suitability for the course.
How you are assessed
Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
