This full-time course provides the essential practical skills and theoretical knowledge to start a career in site carpentry. You will develop your ability to carry out a range of woodwork tasks on construction sites and domestic projects, while gaining insight into the construction industrys working practices and safety standards. Units covered include: � Health and safety in a construction environment � Principles of welfare, health and safety in construction environments � Principles of working in the construction industry � Timber technology � Structural carpentry � First fix carpentry � Second fix carpentry � Circular saw Training takes place in purpose-built workshops and classrooms, combining practical tasks, group projects, and theory lessons. The programme is designed in alignment with the Carpentry and Joinery Occupational Standard (ST0264).

What you need to get on

� 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above � Level 1 Carpentry & Joinery qualification You will be interviewed for this course and should show an interest in practical construction work, classroom studies and a willingness to follow strict health and safety protocols.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
